car seems angry lol
When you start it, it goes to like 3k straight away and the revs go up and down really fast asif youre hitting the limiter. Then the revs slow down abit still at 3k. Heres a video to help.

Anyone know what it may be?

changed the icv and didnt really make any difference at all.
seemed to have sorted it slightly pretty much now,
theres the two pipes on the front of the inlet, one to the brake servo and the other one, which on my car seemed to go nowhere, so we left that pipe off, and that seemed to be causing the revving
however when i start the car up now, it sits at about 2-2.5k for a little while then slowly sorts its life out and goes back to normal lol
any ideasssssss? :D

done a good 200+ miles in it now and its still not idling right,
sits 0.5-1k higher than it should in every gear
such an embarrassment to drive especially when youve just started a new job at a bank building :(
bens ordered me a new engine temp sensor, but if its not that, what else could it possible be?
it used to sit at 2k when you started it then go back to normal slowly, now its not going back at all

Blocked breather pipe maybe

does it do it when you are driving 20 +? it could be vacuum leak so check all your pipes are connected, icv's do it aswel but aren't so obvious! Either that or dodgy idle control valve and check your throttle body is clean it could be getting stuck"

It'll possibly be the throttle position sensor.

slacken off throttle cable --then try it--maybe its too tight and itps is shwwing above ilde threshold, also tps should read less than 0.7v at idle--if all he above are correct --do you have air leaks --if not then ICV is buggered --get a new one

the idle is controlled by many parts and only takes 1 to fail and it will play up like that check.
throttle position sensor
step motor in throttle body
maf sensor
intake air temp sensor.
mine was playing up like that for a while, first thing i done was cleaned the steppa motor and the maf sensor out, it still played up so i took the throttle position sensor off and put a screwdriver in the end turning it very slightly bit by bit untill it stoped idling funny, after all my troubles it was the positiong sensor that was slightly out that made it idle funny. quickest way to check is to get it plugged in and the sensors checked electronicaly, it should find the fault strait away.

any intake or breather pipe? cracked inlet? got to be something fairly simple

btw you shouldnt be driving it like this, itl either fry the rings or your clutch, get it off the road again till its sorted, too much air is badddddddddddddd

i posted the above 2 comments without reading the above posts, its drawing in air somewhere, find out where! check allover tb, all vac and air line, brake servo line, everything, something is leaking

spraying something flammable around the inlet like WD40 usually helps to track down a leak. that breather pipe went to the charcoal canister and needs to be blocked. Also check the TB blade is seated properly as sometimes it can jam open a little bit.
I have once seen this fault due to an ecu though. So if you have a spare one floating round try it, i would put my money on it being an air leak first though as its way more common!
