Pretty urgent if possible. Noise on gearchange!

Hi guys, just about to go look at a 02 Saxo VTR.
Had a quick look yesterday and if you move gearlever side to side it knocks seemingly from underneath gearlever?
Is this likely just to be linkage or something more sinister?

I thought as much, think i'll take my jack and have a good look under to make sure.

Well should be getting it this week hopefully, had a drive and pullst to left a bit, nothing bent and needs a tyre, garage will put 12 month mot on it, new gear linkage, laser track it and a new tyre so looking good!

Loose bolt holding the gearstick in place?

I think it is the linkage tbh, feels floppy to go into gear and knocks if you move lever left to right in neutral.

cud be ure gearbox.does it make banging noise when u release clutch and hard to get into gears?if so thats what mine was when at first thought was linkage

No, no problem with gearbox, changes gear fine, goes into gear fine it's just the shift which is sloppy, my previous VTR had a bit of noise from there but nothing like this.
This one felt quite abit quicker than my old one also, seems really quite peppy through the gears.

Its your linkage mine were piss poor when i first got mine, all good now ive bought new ones.

Going to look at another one tonight though with 54000 mls on!
