You wont need to set the timing on the engine if theres no cams in it i wouldn't have thought.

I might be completely wrong but i'd just sit all the pistons at mid travel and get the head etc back on.

Timing can be set once the cams are in.

Is it a vts?

yer vts, its hole one, there was some paint blocking it up so wast locking off.

yer get what you mean, i didt think it would matter if its at tdc if no cams in.

Would personally avoid copper geased on thread on head bolts and new ones not required as they are not stretch bolts

yer didt think so, its done now anyways. thought tht it would of been bit harder to tighten bolts than it was.

all tu head bolts are strecth type --replace them --and clean out threads in block and you MUST use grease onr oil on threads.
20nm(14lbsft to start with --leave 120mins --recheck --then tighten up to 260degrees in 2 stages -130 --then another 130.
use only MLS type h/gasket--head + block must clean+DRY or gasket will not bond to faces when engine warms up.
don,t forget to adjust your tappets on an 8v after having rocker shaft off.

hole 1 is tdc lock --use 6mm bolt and 8mm bolt in cam pulley

OOO.... shiters then. replaced all head bolts. cleaned the holes out best i could, both surfaces were clean but...

i tightens to 20nm, then did them all straight to 260, like 10mins after doing them to 20nm... will it be ok or not:/

also what do you mean by this :S
you MUST use grease onr oil on threads.?

you need to lube the threads to get accurate torque, ie the bolts wont turn easy enough and you wont torque the head down enough. best to use clean engine oil light coating dont go mad, make sure no oil in holes in block for the head bolts as when you tighten them up you can crack the block.
