Strip it? Scrap the universal Backbox and get a better brand. But to be brutally honest I wouldnt waste my money on a 1.1! If you want to spend money spend it on visual mods.

Your gonna struggle to get much more power without spending stupid money

Straight through exhaust
Stip it
Enclosed air filter

All three may make like 5-10bhp difference if you are lucky

Personally I wouldnt plough money into making a 1.1 faster
Get cheap visual mods until you can afford to buy a VTR/VTS and insure it :)

sell it get a vtr/vts

chuck it off a cliff?

Thread's get ruined with posts like this.

He asked how to make his 1.1 quicker so answer the question with something constructive

One would assume he has a 1.1 and not a VTR/VTS due to the additonal costs in fuel and/or insurance
He could be only 17/18 so a more powerfull engine is not always an option

the above is true however anything done to improve performance will enivitabley increase the cost fo fuel/insurance, unless undeclared in which case you may aswell not declare the vtr/s conversion

end thread

to answer the question how about putting a 1.4 engine in it? Or a 1.4 block- the head is the same, and 1.4 ecu

Strippage is a term used on here to mean stripping the car of all unnecessary weight.

If you want to make the car more powerful, the only option I would even consider is to fit a larger engine. However more power doesn't always make you quicker, cornering and brakes are arguably more important.

What he said^^

It is all about power to weight ratio - example 125cc sportsbike has a 125cc engine, derestricted kicks about 32bhp but because it is so light will kick a vtr and, upto a certain speed a vts as well.

You strip your spare wheel, rear seats, sound deadening, horrible big speakers out of the boot and your car is lighter and quicker.

It is not really practical though and as mentioned tuning the 1.1 is not cost effective either. A 1.4 conversion might be what your after though if you can't wait mate.

I wud save the money u r gunna spend on it and buy a vtr. I did that. its bad for the first year while u got the 1.1 but wen u get a years no claims u cud get the vtr and spend that money on that. it will b well worth it :y:

spend it on suspension/brakes and just have some fun with your car, its your first car (im guessing) so it doesnt have to be fast ffs

if you do spend money on it make sure you can transfer the parts to another car, otherwise it'll be a total waste of money

As said above a good set of springs and dampers good brakes and tyres get some vtr wheels and put some yoko A539s on so it'll handle better

As people say, ditch as much weight out of the car as possible.

80kg out of the car will be like adding 15bhp for free possibly more
