Looking at installing some cams either 646 or ph2

Can the run without a remap and still increase torque & power ?

shit, you want 708 or ph3, still run unmapped, but better with a map, more power then the other two either way, theyre a pointless waste tbh,

if its for a vtr roller rocker ive got a ph3 shaft for sale, done less then 500 miles, looking £150 for it

It's for a vts track car, it needs to retain a bit of sub 4000 rpm shove for some slower bends .

I am just looking for good alround performance rather than a narrow powerband.

I always thought the way cams give you more power is to allow you to rev higher? Therefore your powerband wont be narrower, just higher up the rev range?

^ It should pull stronger right through the rev range over the oe cams.

if he was to put in ph3`s or 708`s would it still pull harder through the rev raneg with out a map- although its best to map- but would he notice any differance without a map ?

ph3 or 708 will still give you good lower power, at 4k they should be if not abit better than standard.

I always thought that ph3's and 708's gave the car more power and torque above 4k not under

I thought this also, hence iirc people have the limit raised when they are mapped to 7800rpm ish don't they?

Not worth doing unless you fit PH3's or 708's imo. If you don't want to shell out for a remap, have the timing adjusted on the rollers instead.

Not going to loose much, if anything by keeping the standard rev limit.

it does, but will not lose too much to notice, wouldnt say you would lose any, just notice more at higher up the rev range.

im running 708`s wen i first put the engine in it was all unmapped and it still idles as normal and after 4k it really pulls right to the limiter.. wich now is mapped and raised to 7650 and bounces 7700 rpm,

i havent got any vids sorry only had it on the road 3 weeks and ive decided to turbo it now so never had time to make any vids, i relli couldnt comment on that as im not 100% sure id have thought newmans are better but im probs sure im going to get sloughtered for saying that.... there very similar and the same profiles i think so i should imagine there wouldnt be alot in it between them

my reason for saying newman as well sorry is purley for reputation and if u like more people have heard of them than catcams ... same as argued piper over newman kent ect... just a brand identity sort of thing if you get me.....

Newmans are worse in quality, better spend your money on CatCams!

The profiles of them are as close as makes no difference. People tend to go for PH3s as they are cheaper.

VTS with 708s and standalone ECU mapped at GMC (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGTJvgNQAKc).
Some videos of saxo_ron's old motor with PH3s and Chipwizards remap (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUcSNm5e624).

??? when seeing newman cams ph3 vs catcams 708's get the same power, there is no really difference,
