Ive got one fitted, just a standard flywheel thats been lightened and balanced.

Im not sure of how much material was removed, but noticed no difference in RPM increase/decrease. What I did notice though was a very irratic (SP) idle in low gears/speeds.

we sell 1 piece lightened and balanced billet steel racing flywheels

improved engine pickup and responsiveness is achieved, and improved engine acceleration - all customers who have purchased one of our flywheels have backed up this statement.

downside as mentioned, particularly on standard management systems, is idle can suffer, as can engine stalling from cold if allowed to drop to idle rpm abruptly. however if used with a programmable management system (as this racing part is intended for) it is not a problem as it can be "mapped out".

general reason for using a 1 piece steel flywheel, as well as its weight saving benifits, is they are much MUCH stronger than standard cast iron items. so for high rpm race engines, flywheel explosions are not a problem, which is usually a problem with over lightened stock items. we have used these well over 9000rpm on TU engines.

all our flywheels are dynamically balanced for optimum performance, and prduced from high grade steel for excellent heat dissipation for even the harshest environments, particularly in race applications with heavy duty cerametallic/sintered clutches.
