hi guys, im currently rebuilding a 16v engine, considering going boost, just trying to price it all up.
Im considering a t25/28 turbocharger (iirc they use the same fittings?) as their cheap and easy to get hold of, have people seen good results with these units? Im not after silly power.
My main question is, does anyone know a company making a downpipe to fit a t25 to a 16v? or would it be a custom jobby?

GT28RS can push above 300bhp. A GT25 would be suited upto 300. Garretts site has the exact specs of each turbo and its ideal operating levels so best to have a look before you buy.
Try to get a power figure in mind, usually 250bhp is the limit for most only due to the costs involved of going further. Other things need to be thought about; the clutch, tyres, cooling & intake - well everything really, starts to get expensive above that kind of power. And you'd want to get a diff to make the power a bit more useable, as theres point having the power if its just used to strip tyres. Once you have a power figure in mind you can get a better idea of how much it will cost to get the rest of the car prepped.
A GT17 is a cheap way of getting upwards of 160bhp. You don't need pistons, you can have the standard ECU mapped to run it and you don't need a massive intercooler or bigger rad so not a bad option at all really. I think Cituning sell the manifolds for a GT17 aswell as the T25 fitment. Milltek do a turbo manifold in a log style and dpengineering do a tubular one.

I would of thought it would be custom mate.
Sometimes, custom works out cheaper :y:

Yeah the cituning manifold will take a gt17 or a t2/t25, but the downpipe is no good for a t25 apparently :n:
As for a figure, i would like around 220atw, but if its a little lower i wont loose sleep.
Im pricing it up to use forged pistons/rods, rebuilding a vts box with qaffie diff, ect ect. The suspension/brakes/tires side of the car is pretty sorted, so no need to worry there

Just looking on the atspeed website, the dp downpipe will fit a gt25, i understand this is the same fitting as some of the t25's (5 bolt flange)?
