I heard "never re-use always re-new"

Haynes says to re-new
Also says to cut slits into an old bolt (to make groves) then screw them in to remove old locking compound.
Imo clean them up to as new and clean the holes, job done.

We reuse them whenever we have the clutch/f-wheel off on the race car and have never had a problem. Just be sure to tighten and torque them up in the correct pattern.
Haynes will always say to renew bolts as they don't want to be held responsible for someone damaging their car using old bolts.
If in doubt, renew, but as long as theyre not rotten they should be ok.
