hi

what items do you have to declare or should you declare if you have a crash to the insurance company.

If i wanted to add to my car:

1. strut brace
2. cold air inflow pipe
3. induction kit

declare it all mate, better in the long run that way, otherwise youll be fucked if you crash and they find that in your engine, just gives tem an esxcuse not to pay out.

anything thats not a standard oem part if your car doesntt come with vtr alloys you can tell them but they class it as an oem part its just aftermarket parts. worth being covered

Well in all honesty there are some modifications you dont have to declare, like internal engine mods.. When i crashed my car, it had alloys, S/S exhaust, stripped out, removed airbags etc etc. And it was never checked even tho i wrote off my car and another lol.

then you were very lucky.
Declare everything as said that wasnt fitted to the car when it rolled off the production line.

If you cant afford the premium hike that comes with adding a mod then dont fit it!

mixed emotions among the forum! :-)
thanks for the info ladies and gents, it's quite a grey area i think personally. what is a modification? does it mean performance, how it looks, or both?

a modification is anything that you are upgrading from the standard component of the car :y:. always works best in the long run to just declare it all mate

Technically even if you had a sticker not declared they could refuse to pay out in an acident.

Anything that isnt on the car when it rolled out factory is a mod.

Hard to swop parts after car has had a major crash and is impounded!

You have to declare everything legally speaking. Unless your police list something as an exception. For example a common one with many polices will allow sound systems up to a given value. If you read your police it will already list any exceptions that you will not have to declare.

LOL!

It's a legal requirement to declare everything that is changed from standard. It doesn't even have to be an upgrade (ie, if you stick a 1.1 engine into a VTR)

Basically, if something is on there/changed from how it came as brand spanking new, it needs declaring or a: your insurance might not pay out and b: technically you're driving uninsured and Mr Po Po doesn't take kindly to that.
