hi all,

am currently building a JP4 engine for my R, after a couple of long discussions with Ricky P over the cams i think i am going to use a set of c2 cams(either ph3's or 4's) mainly because of a few recent projects of rickys making better torque with c2 cams instead of S ones

now then i want to know what are the MPG is like with 3's or 4's? as i use my car to travel to uni 3 times a week maybe 5 miles so 10 mile trip? thanks

dont cams kick in like honda's vtec? aka 2k revs or above? in this case, ur lookin at the same unless you hooff it :) depends how heavy ur right foot is iirc ... someone correct me if im wrong x

If mapped well and driven carefully you'll get the same MPG as you do now...

But why are you worrying about MPG when your doing 30 miles a week?! For one short journeys will kill your MPG more than cams and if it was the least economical engine out there you'd use less than 2 gallons a week!

I use more than that a day! Lol

Unless I've misunderstood your travelling arrangements?

With cams you develop more power so in theory to travel at the same speed uses less revs = less fuel :y: ie if you drove on the motorway at 70 at 3.5k before cams you'll be able to 70 at more like 3.2k in theory making the car more economical but your unlikely to poodle around with cams fitted for economy so expect it to drop, all depends on how heavy your right foot becomes ;)

Nope, engine still needs to turn at a given RPM for a given roadspeed. The only way to change, is to fit a different box.

if your worrying about mpg dont cam your vts. spend more money on petrol and enjoy it more.

I average about 45-50mpg on motorways and about 25-35 mpg around town in my cammed 16v.

No I do do more miles than that lol sorry I didn't explain well I do drive my car but if my mpg was going to drop slot I was planning on cutting down my milage! I am using A jp4 with either an S box or a rallye one!

Cheers for the help guys let the engine swap and cam swap begin!
