fan is always on

my engine fan keeps going on and off all the time even when my engines off( but keys are still in ignition) it only comes on when my temp gauge goes on the light, but my car isnt over heating cos the light just goes on and off, has been happening for months now, car is saxo vtr if any help

mine has just done the same last week, i found it was the the sensore right of the rocked cover, maybe the wires have been pulled out or sensor is loose?
