Right, my friend has the above car, full details - PEUGEOT 205 MARDI GRAS DT 1995 1769cc Three Door Hatchback Manual Diesel 78 BHP.

Reckons that by simply adjusting the turbo he can put out 150BHP and run it reliably on stock internals.

After all the internals i am replacing on my VTS engine i find this highly doubtful, Please tell me im right lol.

not happening, he speaks with forked tongue, just tweaking the turbo's not going to give 150bhp even briefly, let alone reliably

haha good, despite the fact its also 15 years old, Just wanted to make sure that there wasnt a reliable french engine!

tell him youll pay for the dyno, as long as you can keep turning up the boost till it hits 150bhp.

Will be well worth it to see his face when it goes bang

Having a heated debate about this on Facebook atm, getting quite funny, over 40 posts,

My arguement: 306 Dturbo dyno'd 215BHP

Dean Tricker - That dudes 306 diesel, new intercooler, custom made exhaust, t2-25 turbo, High lift cams, forged conrods, THEN he changed the engine for a rebuilt citreon xantia one with a new t25 turbo with piper hi spec cams, forged pistons and conrods THEN he Dyno'd it, sorry to piss on your bonfire but u aint gunna do that free of cost!

His - Daniel Hargrave His cam was shoite, ran it for like a week :p and the forged internals are standard peugeot ones. T25 turbo - £80? and the exhaust isnt actually gonna be making that much power. really doesnt cost alot deano! but then again, i didnt say i was aiming for 213 bhp, 140 can be made on the standard turbo, with just an intercooler added for reliability/safety, and a tuned fuel pump. your just jealous saxo tuning costs £££ :D

I Say No More

Have a look on pug306.net or speak to kris on here.
Turning the pump up and the boost can improve things alot!
Adding a fmic makes it even better.
And those sorts of figures plus loads of torque are possible

I see what your saying swampy but Running 140BHP on a standard internals on a 78BHP 15 year old engine cant be good can it?

Why isnt it good? I havent a clue with boosted french cars but the 1.8t VAG range seem to respond very well to small tweaks even at very high mileage.

It still isnt going to have the acceleration of your vts, And tell him hes talking a load of hunka junk. its old and frail and most probably falling apart!

Even a 306 Dturbo with 100more CC,and about 12+more BHP to start with wouldnt get 140bhp with just and I/C and turning up the fuel.

No way on this planet he is going to double the BHP by simply 'adjusting the turbo'

Maybe sticking in a bigger turbo (if possible), better cooling, remap, more boost etc then he will get more power but im still not seeing 150bhp tbh.

Even if he could, the engine will be dead after a few hours

Diesel turbo engines are quite strong anyway, and respond awesomely to tuning I reckon if he ups the boost slightly, Fmic, decent exhaust system, adjusts fueling, and a remap he should see a good amount if torque and possibly 110 bhp

I dont think the 205 TUD even had an intercooler as standard. My mates didnt, and the turbo was about the size of a pea so i doubt it had the legs to maintain high enough boost to keep the power up.

Comparing it to the 20VT and the newer derv engines is an infair fight, its a good engine but way to simplistic to get those kind of gains easily.

i only ever managed 18 psi from the garret or kkk turbos and a fmic ss exhaust and air filter 18 psi and pump well up to the point it was to smokey i have only ever saw 130bhp

and for a remap you will need to have the later model with the ecu

Cheers for clearing that up guys! Anyway he will be at the 2011 FCS if there is one so will have to both get on the rollers there, as bad as they may be it will still show a comparison!
