i know theres been a million posts about induction kits. but i just want to know if anyone has a jetex or powertec induction kit at all and are they any good??

All depends on the Cold Air piping.

Yes i agree with your principal that Closed filters are good but an open cone with decent air feeds can also give a decent gain

Powertec are the best Induction kits on the market in the above respect

if you dont want to spend much, just get a panel filter. will be better than open.

Yes i agree with your principal that Closed filters are good but an open cone with decent air feeds can also give a decent gain

i disagree entirely. even if an open filter had 10000000000 cold air feeds, it still wouldn't be shielded from the underbonnet heat generated from the manifold etc and would therefore still suck in hot air. the reason enclosed filters are far superior to open filters is because they work in the same principle as a standard airbox ie enclosed from any underbonnet heat with a cold air feed directed to the front of the car. enclosed filter are superior to the standard airboxes in that they have better feeds which dont strangle power top end. the only thing to be gained from an open filter is the induction roar, and power will more than likely be lost due to heat soak. smileys/smiley4.gif

And in cold weather which we get more often in England you have a constant source of air getting to the open cone.

Yes an enclosed filter is a league above but an Induction kit can give gains, if shielded and piped properly

With that many cold air feeds you would not only be skint but you wouldnt be able to shut the bonnet either smileys/smiley4.gif

lol again John you're talking from a sales point of view which i cant understand entiely, but on an N/A car there is no place for an open filter as a performance product. they will suck in hot air no matter what- the underbonnet temps will always be hotter than the ambient temps even in cold weather with a cold air feed and if the filter is shielded, and when you're driving the air is forced towards the rear of the engine bay (where the filter is). plus if it's sheilded completely then it becomes an enclosed filter smileys/smiley17.gifi'm not having a go at you John but if open filters gave performance gains then the likes of gmc would sell them- which they don't. anyway if you advise people to buy enclosed filters then you make more money smileys/smiley17.gif smileys/smiley4.gif

He's got a very good point !!

An open filter is an open filter, if you modified it in a certain way then it would be a DIY enclosed jobby !!!
