Im not planning on doing anything, just like to know whats going on yano :D

I read that apparently 1.4s have wet sleeves? i know what the sleeve is, just no idea what the wet means but is that the reason the 1.4 is only 1400cc because the sleeves restrict the quantaty of displacment?
so the 1.6 block is the same.. but just not wet sleeved? or do all 8v engines have sleeves? they all look the same to me :)

Cheers!

Is it true 1.4 engines have a wet sleeve?

some do some dont. for example the 1.4 ax gt has "sleeves" and the 1.4 gti doesn't

And they are more commonly referred to as liners (not sleeves)

they are wet liners, basically a replacable part that is surrounded by water to cool it, i term them as replacable due to the fact that if a piston broke up in the bore or a cylinder got scored, you can replace the pistons and liners rather than the block
