'Ello friends,

I done a little search and found plenty on Turboing Saxo's but nothing about Supercharging,

If there is a Thread on what is needed and how to do it, I'm sorry, link me please?

Anyway I'm basically just wanting to know what is needed, rough costs and how to do it, if anyone has done it. I've seen a few on YouTube.

It'll be to a VTR, not VTS I know you'll all say it's pointless doing it to a VTR but that's your opinion :fcuk:

My engine build will be finished before summer ready to put in this Summer. I was gona Turbo but the costs of it, I decided to leave it for now after spending over a grand on the engine so far. But, Info on Supercharging would be great :)

Thanks.

check out my progress thread m8, there is a fair bit involved mines an s but it is pretty much the same process.
but if u think the costs involved with turboing are a bit much
supercharging is just as much done properly.
a basic list is
supercharger (rotrex, 1600, second hand 1000,1300)
bracket, pulleys, belt. 100, 300
standalone ecu or extra injectors and a way to run them. veries
boost pipes
intercooler
better brakes.
thats the basics

speak to axsaxoman (John @ GMC). He is generally considered to the the last owrd on supercharging saxos.

If the cost of turboing is too high for you then you have no chance with a supercharger...

After doing lots of research last night, they're both around the same price

So it depends on what I prefer I guess lol.

I would be interested how you came to that conclusion c-certainly its not cheap doing either ,are yuo sure you have included all the bits ,as the turbo kit form dp ,which would be a direct comparison to ur s/c +bracket + rollers ,etc works out quite a bit dearer, over 2k and you still need the oil feed + return system parts and then modifying the sump etc ,then there is the water cooling system for the turbo ,also not included in their kits and no mention of a circulation pump for same .
i am wondering if you are comparing like with like .

you need ecu with either + intercooler + water rad ,so major differences are in the boosting device and work+ parts required to fit it

you wouldnt run a super charger without forged internals would you?

What power output and torque output are you aiming for? Because the turbo cost varies dramatically with power requirement, and the supercharger less so

If you want like 180bhp for a fast-road runaround, turbo'ing is WAY cheaper

yes at a low boost setting ,max i wouls suggest is 7psi for safety which should give +50% on std power

Well yeh I was just looking for as much power as I could without spending loooaaddsss....

And also, I want to do it for some fun and to learn... So I WILL make mistakes while building it but I want to learn so I'd do all the fitting and stuff myself apart from mapping obviously... :(

I've built Dirtbike Engine's and built my VTR Engine, But now I want to learn about Turbo's or Charger... What ever I can do for cheapest but gain kool power also lol.

low boost turbo kit, spec and build yourslef is alot cheaper then s/c, if you serch the site, inlcuding he stickies, there are lots of threads about it, with lots of good info, also check in on the boosted progress threads, ask questions etc, its not as hard as ppl think

Yeh thanks I've looked around, I'll look more and see what I can find.

It's really something I want to do, whether it works out or not I think it's be kool to have a Boosted Saxo, and know I've done it :)

theres 1 or two good threads in the stickies scetion at the top, theres also a good called called "the saxo and 106 turbo and supercharged thread" or something similar, this has a fair bitinfo that will help ou get started and give you an insight

Hmmm, sounds good... Point of me doing it is I wanted to fit it all though, So I can learn about it all and stuff... Thanks for the link though. I hope by doing it myself I'll save a bit too, No labor costs lol.

No matter how handy you are with tools, you probably will not be able to do it all unfortunately mate. Theres no harm in learning about it but getting someone who has much experience with boosting 106/saxos to do it. It will need to be mapped for starters and if ur going for an ecu which isnt an predator you will need to wire it into your existing loom. And btw, the '£2800 for a drive in drive out' thing mentioned above is an absolute bargain for what you get! Thats what im going to do once the 3-plug pred is released. :)

most of it with sensible knolledge can be done urself there is readily available info out there and most looms can be bought now to match ecus, just depends how much ur comfortable doing urself. only thing i cant attempt myself is mapping. now that is beyond me lol

I was going to buy a Predator lol.

I understand you can tweak them yourself? That seems fun to me lol.

if your looking for a fun project, learn and do it yourself, if you looking a for a boosted fun toy, do andy's drive in drive out, as it really is cheap for a set up, you can then spec it up at a later date :y:

Was more of a Fun Project really Lol.
