where did it start? Or your earliest memory of starting to get interested in cars?
I remember when I was about 5/6 and at school running round the playground pretending to be a 'sporty escort' lol I meant the cossie btw...
Was always interested in cars, when my dad used to service the cars I used to always wanna come and have a look at the engine n stuff lol.
Also found halfords boring from a young age...a good thing I guess? I like the tool section now though :p
Then moving onto push bikes, building them etc
Used to look at the pictures in max power lol at school, then after my mate who was 2 years older got a saxo I wanted a one since then.
So hows your car interest career gone? Have you always had an interest in cars and mechanics or is it just a tool for AtoB and you dont care about it what soever?

Basically since I was old enough to walk me & my mate used to sit in his grandads garage watching him work on cars. Then we started helping him out when we got a bit older, bought own car to work on at 13. And just went from there really.
Oh...I learnt to swear in that garage too :P lol
Danny, did you run round the playground going *brummmmmm brummmmm* lol

Helped my old man restore an old skool MG Midget when i was about 12, and a Mini when i was 14. At that stage though it was very much passing of tools and doing odd bits and bobs, didnt really have a clue back then.
Only really got into it when i bought the Saxo 6 years ago, nice simple car to play about with and do most of the work on myself, knowledge has grown vastly since then so although i spent a fortune on it, the knowledge that ive gained has been priceless.

Not sure really always used to want to clean me dads car from being little, and always had toy cars sure I liked them more than my barbie dolls :S They had to be racing cars though not slow ones lol.
When I got to like 10/11 I wanted a yellow lotus lol funnily enough I still want one now, for some reason when I was 15 I decided I wanted a calibra :S was also quite into scoobys back then.
French car love came from buying a saxo only because it was parked at side of road and looked nice lol. Did actually want a blue 206 but glad I started on saxos.

Since i was 3 years old, when my dad had a siera, while mom went to work i would be out the front with my dad cause he was messing with cars, my 2 uncles are also very car orientated. SO i grew up around cars. Then my step-dad came on the scene who has shares in a car company, his dad also owned a company.
So since i was 3 i have been around cars everyday..... Turned into a passion

Like wise with me really, my knowledge only really started since I got the saxo. Very good car to start leanring mechanics on, everything is so simple and easy to diognose. I guess the fact there a lil bit older and supposidly unreliable helps too, to make you work on it!
Still, my knowledge is only basic and mainly only applys to a saxo. I aint got so much of an idea with other cars, even when im at my local garage they sometimes ask me about saxo's and advice on bits and bobs! Worked in a merc garage aswell so got some minor experience there too.

Then got into chopping through Digimods when I was about 13.
Lost interest a bit from when I was 15 til about 2yrs ago.

Also playing with toy cars, then got a Suzuki SJ when was about 13 to mess around in and on.. Used to go off roading and break things then attempt to fix.

I have always loved cars since i see my mates dad working on his old Ford Cortina he was building up again..
I used to spend more time with him helping than my mate so you can tell how that went down!
Went through the years of reading Max Power, Fast Car & Redline LOL
I still get a weird kick out of fixing my car, small or big job!

I've always loved cars, so has my dad, he is a mechanic and used to do rallying so that got me interested in cars more. I'm not really interested in modifying my car, just keeping it in really good condition and repairing bits :)

My cousin used to always have the best of motors when i was young so guess he influenced me slightly, he had a mint miami 205 gti which i thought was the nuts, 172 cup when they were first released, full leather gsi turbo when first released, pulsar, wr1 and things like that, used to be mad for motorbikes too as my uncle got me into that when i was about 10, he has about 20 bikes inc a repsol 1000cc fireblade in orange with orange wheels and carbon exhaust :D

dad always had a new car every 6 months, so i used to look forward to what he was bringing home lol my brothers are quite a bit older than me so when i was little my brothers have been messing about with minis old fords etc (brothers being role models etc wanted to be just like them) always had every months car mags in the house, and combined with the max power used to have naked laydees, i always wanted to be part of that scene, in my simple mind i thought as soon as i get a car the sooner i loose my virginity! haha THANKFULLY i found out i could loose my virginity years before getting a car lol

from when i was at college really... stuck 13 miles away from the nearest town living in when i was 16 with nothing to do at night.... would go and sit in the engineering workshop and watch the boys potter about with their saxos and corsas. started to pick up the lingo, and we would sometimes drive 'down the sand' in dumfries where all the boy racers sat, and i would pick up more.
came home, and ever since then had a bit interest. then bought the pug - joined 106 OC, here, Edinburgh cruise, livi cruise etc etc and interest grew into a way of life, and an idea turned into proper knowledge....

Have liked fast cars since forever, probably since I was born :p Used to design them all the time when I was little (putting splitters on the instead of guns etc :p the sad kid that I was), I was thinking about going into car design as a career but choose architecture instead then photography.
I think every quick car I've had a go in when I was younger has fuelled it too, got taken out in a skyline when I was 7 that probably didn't help :p

I remember having a tricycle and I always used to pretend it was a fiesta XR2, I think I must have seen one, and decided I liked it! Have no idea why, my parents weren't into cars, I used to beg mum to get me toy cars instead of girly bits. She got me a barbie jeep and I loved it! :D

Some say I was born with a 1/2" spanner in my left hand.
Passion stem's from my uncle really I suppose as he was keen on Audio, and the modified stuff.
Car's are a way of life there more than just transport and well I've infected many other people with the enthusiasm.
Could blame Corgi/Matchbox also I suppose

haha I used to love that, one of the only reason i used go to work with my dad on a saturday morning. Sit on my dads knee steering the LDV convoy :p
I remember once, I tried to drive it into the garage but I didnt know how, this was when I was like 5/6, and my dad came running over saying get out!! He said if I dont do it right the van goes flying forward at 70mph into the garage wall lol. Well that put me off trying again haha

I have been driving since i was 12 (farmer boyo) n have gotten through over 12+ field cars... from either rolling, ditching, crashing or generally ragged to death haha
Dont get me wrong, even though ive ragged those cars and still do (Current is a 1.4 Fiesta) i love driving and working on engines... i have learnt sooo much about car control over the years. Im currently saving up for my motorsport license to have a go getting into some Amatuter Rallying :D
My true love though didnt exist until i saved up and bought my own VTR... made me appreicate cars even more :y:

I don't know where mine come from. My dad never had your usual cars, instead having things like twin turbo'd Hyundai Stellars and Renault Lagunas lol
It was also on my school report that I always showed to much interest in cars and not enough interest in my work.

I actually believe no one played a particular part in my love for cars but there are a few things that helped,
Mum loved cars, her first car was a Mk2 Golf GTi with big bumper kit, I then confused her in to buying a Subaru Impreza Wrx before they were as common as Clio Sports, it was a Silver import, was quick, then she bought a blob eye yearsssss later, and then she bought my old 280bhp E0 Focus ST3 of me:)
My uncles was a Ford nut, had a Mk2 Escort RS with lots done to it on twin 40's iirc, also had an RS2000 & many others.
My dad who know isn't particulary intersted in cars had a Mk1 Golf Gti Cab, had it resprayed black (that was it's original colour though no chavy shit) & some Mk2 BBS alloys with sprayed centres, this was like 20 years ago haha.
My dad also used to work in Earls court and got us in to car shows for free was mint, I blaime Matchbox & hot wheels for my love of cars haha I used to spend all my pocket money on them and remember always wanting a small scale impreza but they were over £30...
And as a consequence of this love in 5 years driving I have owned.
Mk2 VTR Posieden
206 Gti 180 Agean Blue
Focus ST3 Electric Orange
Mk5 Panther Black Fiesta Zetec S
Mk2 VTS Iclenadic Grey
And now going back to another Gti 180...

Well i think i take after my dad for my interest in cars, but it really started when i watched the 1st fast and furious movie in 2001, just loved the idea of cars like that. Used to sit in lesson at school drawing cars more than i did work after watching it and asways got told of for it haha. Then the need for speed underground game came out and that really made me want to be involved in the car modding world and i think at that point i decided i wanted to be a mechanic (which im not lo, mechanical engineer insteadl) but i still love cars all the same. Wish it was easy as need for speed to mod and buy stuff for my car! ha.

My family cars:
MK1 Golf GTI
XR2
XR3I
Escort RS turbo 220 bhp
Sapphire cosworth 300bhp
Escort Cosworth 380 bhp
Mk2 golf GTI
E36 M3
Nissan 300ZX 400bhp
I think that had something to do with it.

dad used to take me to wales and all over to watch all the old skool mk2 escorts rallying and classic car shows , all my family have always been pretty hooked on cars , then i started to compete in downhill mountain biking from like 12 until 16 which sort of took my mind off cars for a while , then started work at a local motor factor / garage when i left school , then been hooked again ever since

My grandad has always been into cars/bikes and I've been brough up messing around in shed with various bits and bobs, I helped him fix up old motorbikes and stuff and my dad used to take me down the BTCC.
I can't remember one moment where I thought, oooh I like cars. Just how I've been brought up I guess. My lil bro is the same. But he likes gay old minis. But I think my enthusiasm rubbed off onto him.

When I was about 10 and I saw my first Saxo VTR.
From this I just started talking to my dad about cars and going to car shows and things. Helped him in his garage rebuilding escorts and rovers.
Then he bought me a Mini when I was 14, we stripped it and put a cooper engine in it, welded up the floor, resprayed it, powdercoated the wheels etc.
Then I bought a 1.1 106 at 16 (still desperate for a vtr)
wanted more power so bought a zr (still desperate for a vtr)
& now I have a VTR at the tender age of 19 :D only took 9 years lol
