Default Your interest in cars...

where did it start? Or your earliest memory of starting to get interested in cars?

I remember when I was about 5/6 and at school running round the playground pretending to be a 'sporty escort' lol I meant the cossie btw...

Was always interested in cars, when my dad used to service the cars I used to always wanna come and have a look at the engine n stuff lol.

Also found halfords boring from a young age...a good thing I guess? I like the tool section now though

Then moving onto push bikes, building them etc

Used to look at the pictures in max power lol at school, then after my mate who was 2 years older got a saxo I wanted a one since then.

So hows your car interest career gone? Have you always had an interest in cars and mechanics or is it just a tool for AtoB and you dont care about it what soever?

Basically since I was old enough to walk me & my mate used to sit in his grandads garage watching him work on cars. Then we started helping him out when we got a bit older, bought own car to work on at 13. And just went from there really.

Oh...I learnt to swear in that garage too lol

Danny, did you run round the playground going *brummmmmm brummmmm* lol

Helped my old man restore an old skool MG Midget when i was about 12, and a Mini when i was 14. At that stage though it was very much passing of tools and doing odd bits and bobs, didnt really have a clue back then.

Only really got into it when i bought the Saxo 6 years ago, nice simple car to play about with and do most of the work on myself, knowledge has grown vastly since then so although i spent a fortune on it, the knowledge that ive gained has been priceless.

Not sure really always used to want to clean me dads car from being little, and always had toy cars sure I liked them more than my barbie dolls They had to be racing cars though not slow ones lol.

When I got to like 10/11 I wanted a yellow lotus lol funnily enough I still want one now, for some reason when I was 15 I decided I wanted a calibra was also quite into scoobys back then.

French car love came from buying a saxo only because it was parked at side of road and looked nice lol. Did actually want a blue 206 but glad I started on saxos.

Since i was 3 years old, when my dad had a siera, while mom went to work i would be out the front with my dad cause he was messing with cars, my 2 uncles are also very car orientated. SO i grew up around cars. Then my step-dad came on the scene who has shares in a car company, his dad also owned a company.

So since i was 3 i have been around cars everyday..... Turned into a passion

Like wise with me really, my knowledge only really started since I got the saxo. Very good car to start leanring mechanics on, everything is so simple and easy to diognose. I guess the fact there a lil bit older and supposidly unreliable helps too, to make you work on it!

Still, my knowledge is only basic and mainly only applys to a saxo. I aint got so much of an idea with other cars, even when im at my local garage they sometimes ask me about saxo's and advice on bits and bobs! Worked in a merc garage aswell so got some minor experience there too.

My step-dad had a 309 GTi and an Alfa 33 he was always modifying. So was always around modified cars.

Then got into chopping through Digimods when I was about 13.

Lost interest a bit from when I was 15 til about 2yrs ago.

My dad really, when he was fixing things always used to watch, fount it interesting even though had no clue what he was doing.

Used to help wash car too, jet wash used to be so much fun lol!

Also playing with toy cars, then got a Suzuki SJ when was about 13 to mess around in and on.. Used to go off roading and break things then attempt to fix.

Then same as Danny my mate 2years older got a Westcoast and wanted 1 ever since then, now I've had loads of Saxos lol!

I have always loved cars since i see my mates dad working on his old Ford Cortina he was building up again..

I used to spend more time with him helping than my mate so you can tell how that went down!

Went through the years of reading Max Power, Fast Car & Redline LOL

I still get a weird kick out of fixing my car, small or big job!

I've always loved cars, so has my dad, he is a mechanic and used to do rallying so that got me interested in cars more. I'm not really interested in modifying my car, just keeping it in really good condition and repairing bits

My cousin used to always have the best of motors when i was young so guess he influenced me slightly, he had a mint miami 205 gti which i thought was the nuts, 172 cup when they were first released, full leather gsi turbo when first released, pulsar, wr1 and things like that, used to be mad for motorbikes too as my uncle got me into that when i was about 10, he has about 20 bikes inc a repsol 1000cc fireblade in orange with orange wheels and carbon exhaust

from when i was at college really... stuck 13 miles away from the nearest town living in when i was 16 with nothing to do at night.... would go and sit in the engineering workshop and watch the boys potter about with their saxos and corsas. started to pick up the lingo, and we would sometimes drive 'down the sand' in dumfries where all the boy racers sat, and i would pick up more.

came home, and ever since then had a bit interest. then bought the pug - joined 106 OC, here, Edinburgh cruise, livi cruise etc etc and interest grew into a way of life, and an idea turned into proper knowledge....

Have liked fast cars since forever, probably since I was born Used to design them all the time when I was little (putting splitters on the instead of guns etc the sad kid that I was), I was thinking about going into car design as a career but choose architecture instead then photography.

I think every quick car I've had a go in when I was younger has fuelled it too, got taken out in a skyline when I was 7 that probably didn't help

I remember having a tricycle and I always used to pretend it was a fiesta XR2, I think I must have seen one, and decided I liked it! Have no idea why, my parents weren't into cars, I used to beg mum to get me toy cars instead of girly bits. She got me a barbie jeep and I loved it!
