when i put back the cylinder head dose it matter were the pistons are set up.

if you plan to run the engine again you will need to make sure that it is 'timed' correctly.

If its just for storage then theres not really anything to much to worry about as the valves will remain closed.

make sure they are halfway down the bore. this makes sure there is no chance of ramming the valves into the piston as it is bolted down.

then make sure you time it up correctly - if you dont know how. ASK, or get a haynes manual.

the 106 engines use locking pins to locate everything, so cannot really get it wrong providing its locked up right.

also by looking at the picture. would be advised to clear all the gunk out of your oil galleries before going any further. and ensure all mating surfaces are prepared and clean. also cant see too clearly in the picture.. but edges of your pistons dont look too good.. or is that dirt in the bore?

would you just lock the fly, then lock the cam pulley then bolt down?

yes it needs a good clean up lots of oil on the pistons just stripping down the engine and putting in new bits were it needs it. :y: thanks for your help.
