7250 rpm is set in the ecu. The rev counter isnt totally accurate at that kinda rpm

have you cammed or remapped your vts by any chance ?

I have the same thing mate. Due to doing a conversion my VTS ECU was unlocked and mine will rev to 7500rpm and still not hit the limiter. Think sometimes the limiter is removed when unlocking an ECU.

hmm i see, well i have just fitted an unlocked ecu to my vtr so i'll soon see if it revs more :P

nope, doesnt work that way

So i'll 100% still have a limiter on my ECU? Safe to rev up to it even if it is past 7250??

8k is safe on standard internals! Wouldnt want to take it much further though!

Big statement lol, bloody risky if you ask me.. I've gone to 7,500, still no limiter kicks in. Too scared to go any more LOL :p

Ive driven one with an 8k limit, and my other mates has an 8k limit too! both standard internals. Personally, id rather have the limit jus below for peace of mind.

Mine is the same mate, I glanced down and saw 7.8-7.9k on the clocks, needless to say I changed up sharpish lol.
Mine's been mapped but I dont think much of the map tbh.

I just want to know where the limiter is on mine or if it has one at all tbh. Like you say, it's peace of mind to know there is a limiter.

Haha thats what I was like! My ECU could have been mapped when it was in the VTS that I got it from but I highly doubt it. Mines not been cammed or anything and it still pulls all the way to 7500 (and possibly more).. doesn't make sense.

Surely can't be standard then mate

quite alot of the silly ebay chips have insane revlimits. But at that kinda RPM your gauge tends to over read so what is 7500 is still only 7250.

It's much like a speedo giving out false readings at high speeds.
You could be travelling at 100mph but your speedo reads 110.

Exactly the same with the rev counter, at high revs the reading isn't 100% accurate so i wouldn't look into it too much.

7800 is max safe rpm limit on hydraulics --after that you are pushing your luck
no point even with a 16v + 708cams in going any further max power is long past by that time ,your just makng a noise +if you changed up sooner you would accelerate quicker
