Uprated Looms with engine conversion

Right folks,

Ive been offered a mot fail vts for not much money. I only want it for the engine and associated parts.
However. Its a mk2 v reg. I think it has a cross over loom (one plug engine, 3 plug interior) But cant be sure as i haven't seen it yet.
Once the engine is out i plan to rebuild it and fit some shiny new bits in the from of cams and bodies before putting it in my mk1.
My question is.:

If i bought, say a omex 600 for example and the omex loom. Would i still need the engine ecu from the car, or does the omex one completely replace it. As it would make it easier to just use an omex one rather than trying to get the cross over loom to work.

When you put it in your mk1 you can just dump the OEM ECU. Don't think (or they did not last time i got one ) OMEX offer a loom for what your doing so you just have to get there starter loom and wire it in your self. They are great ECUs have fun :)
