2 plug Interior to Engine loom connection

Whats the second plug here the one with 3 wires going to it? Both at the end of the loom near the interior plug. Is it a GTI loom? Whats the plug for that has 3 wires..oil temp/oil level? Or what?

or on a pug 2 plug interior loom, what wires go to each? Is there one plug that only has a few things in? Can you leave it disconnected and the engine will still run fine? Thats if its just sending figures for the tachos.
