Hi Guys,
This is my first post here so I apologize if this has been answered.
The full story:
I got in my car today (Citroen Saxo 1.1 1999) and reversed out of my drive. Pulled away in 1st, changed into second and something felt funny with the The gear stick. Now, the gear stick travels fully from left to right (ie the 1st position to the 5th position). I can use the clutch as normal, but no matter where I put the stick, forward or backward (except neutral) all I can get is 2nd or 3rd (not sure which gear it is, but its only one).
When I got the car, I believe it had a similar problem and that was the gear linkage.
Any ideas what this may be and how could I fix it.
Many Thanks.
Gavin.

Mine's just started playing up. On my way home from work i really struggled to get in to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Reverse crunched like fcuk too.
There was a clicking sound when i had the clutch fully pressed in.
I'm thinking i might need a new gear linkage/ gear selector linkage. Hopefully i wont need a new clutch though?
This car's a pain in the arse.
And i've got a pain in my bloody hand from trying to change gears!
The thing is, when the cars turned off, they all select perfectly too? This is whats confusing me.
I don't know much about cars too

Probably just a bent or popped off linkage in both cases, new one's are defintely worth buying, i'd recommend pug plus one's.

Pop your bonnet and check your gear linkages.

Well just ordered a full linkage kit and a new gear selector. Will fit these on sunday. With a bout of lick this should solve the issues. Will also check the clutch cable and give it a tighten as there seems to be a lot of play in the peddle.
I that fails then I will be looking at new clutch. The thing is, I got quoted 350 supply and fit. Ouch!

Tell me about it! 4 hours labour minimum they said too. The clutch was 106 for a LUK one. Trying to find a better garage at the moment.
will do the linkage and change oil first and then see what its like. Shame I don't live local to you!

Right. Well i have changed the loinkages and selector unit. It now goes in to 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th fine. Still wont go in to 1st and still crunches when i try to get it in to reverse.
Will change the box oil one night this week and try to tighten the clutch cable (if i can find the fucker!)
Beginning to piss me off now.
Also, i have a BM quickshift ( i think) that i got for a present. I tried to fit this earlier on to the linkages but it fouls wherever i try to fit it. Either on the cabling or on part of the bay. Do i need to re route the cables for it to fit?
Cheers

Also before you buy linkages check them, my linkages are in good shape but got movement left and right. To change the pill i got a center punch and hammer and hammered it out easy. Oh btw part number for a new one is C250924.

Its exactly what rumble said.
I took a bolt and turned it down in a lathe to 6.88mm (iirc) for it to fit snug but not too tight.
Its the one on top of the gearbox directly under the airbox.
Dont need new linkages or anything

I take it you get to it by the top then or do you still need to get under the car to do it?
Dont suppose you have any pics of it do you?
