Am looking to change the cambelt on my '02 Saxo VTS. I have changed cambelts before on other makes of car however it seems on the Saxo you need to use the Citroen electronic tensioning tool to get the tension right.

I have seen a few guides where it says you can do it manually though none of them seem to specify how to do this - only saying to slacken it slightly if it whines.

I would prefer to get the tension right rather then approximatly and run the risk of it failing early.

As such is there anywhere in the Surrey area where I can rent the electonic tool?

never used one tbh on the 100's of cambelts i've changed, just judge the tension correctly and it'll be fine

seconded. First one I ever did, I took to the garage and asked a Citroen mechanic to check it. He just told me that you can judge by twisting the belt, looked at it and said it was fine.

Done it that way since and never had a problem.

Thanks for the replies. Would I be right in thinking that if the tension is correct then a should be able to turn it 90 degrees half way along its longest run?
