Right guys I swopped my engine over and after finishing off I have this scenario, turn the key and everythings powers up apart from I don't hear the fuel pump prime, this immobiliser light flashed continuously, if I go to start I get a click from the starter, but it doesn't turn over.
The battery is fine an I'm using the same key/transponder ecu and imob as before.
Why won't it start I'm really at my wits end here!
Has my ecu locked out!?
Any help appreciated, thanks

Sounds like a poor battery contact. Did you reconnect the live to the starter motor. That would cause both the problems if it wasnt.

Yeah my car starts but keeps cutting out. I can't hear my fuel pump when I turn on the ignition but it's been checked and it seems fine. Weird 1 like

I think the immbolisher key flashing indicates the transponder isn't picking up the key code, have you have switched over the immbolisher boxes over to suit the ECU?

sounds like a locked ecu to me

This indicates a general problem with the circuit. It can be caused by the ecu not talking to the transponder box.. ie cause its got no power.

Even if it is an immobiliser problem the fuel pump should still prime. This isnt caused by the ecu just being locked

I've used the same ecu, imob box an transponder none of that's changed I've just swopped the bare motor over, I've got the light off now just unplugged the imob box behind the fuse box disconnect an reconnected the battery an all is fine. Still no fuel pump prime an no starter power tho!? Weird this, ideas?

Double check every plug is connected properly and in the right place, and check there is no corrosion on the connection points on the starter motor etc, don't know what else to try, would the engine turn over if the fuelcut off switch was pushed?

Fuel cut of is fine I think, there is only 2 wires to the starter ain't there? I'm reading a wirin diagram in the Haynes and there's 3!!!?? It's a 'typical' diagram tho so? Am I missing a wire somewhere?

I bet the ecu light isnt coming on with the ignition is it. The reason u got the light off is cause u unplugged the box that turns it on. If your ecu isnt unlocked and you wont get it started when you eventually do get it turning over.

The fact your getting a click means the stater motor solenoid is clicking in and out and the motor isnt turning. Which can only really be caused by a shot starter or the big fat live from the battery going to it.. the same live the entire engine loom gets its feed from in some looms.. so check that!

On my 1.4 loom, i have 2 wires with loops on them, one small and one bigger, and then you have the large looped wire that runs off the positive feed from the battery

Theres three wires to the starter, two large ones and a small one.

2 wires on the loom, and one flat one off the starter.

Some looms take the live off teh wire going to the alt. Some take it off the yellow/green 2 pin connectors that goto the fuse box.

You have left a wire off to power the ecu more than likely. Or your ecu is dead/bad wiring/bad ignition relay

i had that problem, its the intel key in other words the aerial on the ignition barrel for the immobiliser isnt picking up the key, all i did was get the aerial and bring it closer to where the key will be, if you want you can also bypass the immobiliser, its in the passenger side footwell its a black box

I'd say check wiring/fuses first because the ecu light aint comin on then chances are it's not getting power!? It seriously could just be o e wire somewhere. All my problems where caused by forgetting to fit the starter to battery +ve, reconnected that and all is well now

ive done all that lads cheers but still no further forward the immobiliser light is not flashing now but eml is still not clming on with ignition and also even when you put a wire from live on battery to the wire on the starter am stil getting nthing. Seriously getting sick nw lads
