you get a drill and tap with a helicoil kit, drill the hole, tap it, insert helicoil, fit whatever. done

Where do i get a heli coil kit and any idea how much it costs??
What is it that you are trying to fit a helicoil to if yo dont mind me asking?
I needed to do it last year to my suspemnsion strut, but there was not enough 'spare' metal to fit the coil in a safe manner.

It's in the head on the fourth chamber where the spark goes in, the thread has gone and it keeps firing the spark out. Stripped the engine, just need to get it coiled.
Sounds like a nasty one... Does anyone know if you need to get a different coil for high temperature applications?
You should be able to grab a coil set from local engineering works, but if its only the one you need to fit, then may work out cheaper to take your head to local garage and get them to sink the coil in.

helicoils for spark plug holes are spot on for the plug heat, they arnt cheap ie about £30-40 but its better than a new head, bear in mind though that whenever you change your plugs you will probs need to re-helicoil that hole as they tend to come out when you undo the plugs.
