Just wont peoples views on back boxes are there any advantage having a 2” exit to a 4” exhaust. And if so can you back it up.:y:

Cant comment on 4" but i have a supersprint 2" and the advantages imo are:
Doesn't look like a "chav backbox" to the normal person
Sound's quality imo much better than most 3"/4"
And apparently good BHP gain compared to others
:y:

A Scooby has 4” and evo do people say they are chav to them lol
I think 4" sounds ok I think it don’t give any bhp lol

it kinda suits a scooby though where as it just dont go on a saxo, i had a 4" on mine when was bought just looks stupid and is way too loud!

Don't have any experience, but personal opinion( if it counts) Subaru and evo drivers want to be heard, but u can't beat the wee silent assasign. !!!

id say scoobys and evos probably are deemed to be chav! but a big exhaust on a turbo can befunctional.

4" exhausts look rubbish on small cars. I'd say a max of 3" on a saxo without looking silly

I like the look of a 4" back box on a Saxo, always have done :)

there are no benifits for a bigger exit to a back box,the back box does very little if anything for performance
ive built exhausts for evo rally cars that have a 3 inch bore from turbo back no resonators etc on my own evo i run a 4 inch tailpipe finisher on a 3"bore back box and 3"from the turbo. mainly to keep noise below trackable db levels
ive bulit autox exhausts for saxos they have always been below 2.5 with wotever tail finisher they want doesnt seem to make any difference worth worrying about depends wot sound your after i like the raspy sound on a saxo as i think it suits it, evos scoobs etc need a nice free flow exhaust to get power proberly they dont sound that good on tickover but nice when flat out

im currently working on a down pipe back aluminium exhaust for a evo they dont last as long as stainless steel but will be a massive weight saving and a good alternative to a bumper exit silly load exhaust

the supersprint backbox (http://www.kamracing.co.uk/index.php/citroen/citroen-saxo/saxo-exhaust/exhaust-backbox/citroen-saxo-supersprint-race-backbox.html) is 2"
Our KAM Racing exhaust backbox (http://www.kamracing.co.uk/index.php/citroen/citroen-saxo/saxo-exhaust/exhaust-backbox/kam-racing-stainless-steel-race-backbox-citroen-saxo.html) one is 2.25"

smaller back box increases the back pressure, doesnt look chavy and me personally think it looks much much better

with a normally aspirated engine its all about gas velocity. Back pressure is a by product of a fast gas speed so the trick is to find the compromise. Back pressure is not good as many people think...

not not really most back boxes have the tail finisher added so makes no difference to back pressure backpressue is made buy the boxes not tail finisher

they are quite long on the saxo and 106 though but really I dont know whether it makes a difference. Most likely not as the gas speed has already reduced as it reaches the backbox.

well done! not many people seem to want to leave reviews these days:n: Its a good way for others to see an unbiased verdict. We put them all up as long as its a legitimate review.

out of interest have you ever ran a aluminium exhaust on a saxo seems to be a trend starting in autox and sprints etc but id be interested to have any info with road going saxos on the ones ive made they last about 2 to 3 seasons on track first one i did with pie cuts to get the bends, witch seemed to crack due to temperature variation the last one i did was all mandrel bent and seems to have done the trick i also did away with the v band clamps and went back to slip on with a small flexi joint ment doing away with the flange on the manifold but seems to do the business

To be honest I wouldnt use Aluminium on anything but a race system. For daily use they probably would not last. They simply are not strong enough or durable enough. You need to be able to cope with some knocks and bangs. We are already down to near on half the weight of a standard system so is it worth the extra cost?

ok was just wondering really, but they do sound nice for a road system id have to add silencers witch would cause heat build up but im sure ill get to try it out at some point :y:
