ok i have a citreon saxo 1.1 mpi
when i first had the car the idle was bouncy between 800-900 rpm it also seems to cough and splutter abit like misfiren but dont notice no loss of power so never thought nothing of it .. i learnt to live with it.... now lately it was totally gone mad! it idle up 2 1500 -2000rpm bouncin around.. then shot up 2 4 tosuand.. then droped rite down and cut out.. seems to have a mind of its own....

i have replaced the steper motor alredy.. this seems to have make the problem less dramatic.. but its still there still a funny idle bounces about. sometimes drops too 500 then shoots up n then settles.. not sure what to do as im not made of money....

tomorow im going to change the coolant temperature sensor as alot of forums have said this has fixed it for them... not sure how this could cause a problem but its worth a try... am i doing the right thing?

and if the problem still presists whats next??

i see ALOT of people have this problem but not many have said i had it fixed by ....

someone please help me before i keep wasting my money :( sorry about aother post on this just there dosent seem to be a certain cure

the usual suspects are:
idle control valve, try cleaning this and trottle body to if you havent,or replace,

coolant temp sensor youve done,

map sensor,

give the car a good service if it needs it

usually one of these solves it (for a while), its a saxo thing im afraid, i cured it in my vtr with changing coolant temp sensor but vts is prooving difficult,

good luck mate

well i brought a new idle control valve first ... put this on... and it dosent rev up and down or cut out as much.soo its drivable.. but still idles wiv a oooOOOoooOOOooo and misfires a little but not noticeable when driving so changed temp sensor... and the same

its been doing this since i ha the car and kinda ignored it.. i gave it a full service and it still idled funny so it wont be that

next on my list wil be the map sensor, any way to test this before buying a new one? and could the throttle postion sensor be anything to do with it?

then after this god noes what ill do next

soz mate i have no idea how to test the map sensor, could be the throttle position sensor but ive never heard of that being a problem,

try cleaning these sensors up before replacing them, that does the trick sometimes

well im deffinetly going to replace my tps next! as all my symptoms seem to be what is caused if this is faulty... symptoms are...
slight misfire
hunting on idle
hestatiion accelerating .decelerating.. and my hesitates decelerating

so if all the symptoms of this being faulty are what my car is doing then fingers crossed this will fix it!

Take the throttle cable out and spray wd40 around it and down it, ive had my car sounding like it was running on 3 cylinders, and all that fixed it was tapping the throttle cable lol

well i changed my mind and decided to get a new map sensor insted as most forums on here menton that being the problem... and it has made no difference what so ever!

so guess im gunna have to wait untill im paid again and buy the tps and hope that last sensor solves it
