I got around to cleaning my pistons today out of my 106 gti engine thought I would see what size they are 77.84mm and 77.98mm is this standard size.

78.5mm bore is std on 1.6 tu engine

Now that they are clean should i put any oil on them or is wd40 ok

Just use engine oil.... WD isn't great for pistons..

the wd40 is just to get out any water that may be there

A nice bit free cloth normally down the trick..

Yeh i'm using engine oil to clean my pistons up :y:
Oh also mate, are you replacing the oil pump? Not sure if i need to or not seeing as there over 130 quid brand new from citreon :(

no not replacing pump its ok engine only done 56k but will replace most engine parts.
