Hi guys, new to the forum as ive bought a N plate xsi 1.6. Ive since removed the engine and tonight i fitted a 16v engine. I had already labelled as many wires as i could and as i was finishing up for the night i thought id quickly try and start it.

So i connected the obvious starter +ve feed and a wire that leads to the coil aswell as the lambda. The other wires i have are things like coolant temp, oil pressure, rev counter etc so i never connected any of them as it should start without!?

As i switched ignition on, the fuel pump didnt prime, nor does it run whilst cranking. I therefore fed it direct so the pump is puming continuous and try cranking again. Still no offer.

What compulsary wires run through the plug at the nearside wing that must be connected to run?

None of my wires appear to be ecu power feeds etc.. Just ecu outputs.

Any help much appreciated and a paypal pint to anyone with info leading to my car firing up!!!

What about it?? What should be wired for that? I have a wire for pin 14 on it and a coresponding wire on the car. Is this just an ignition feed? My car has a stupid keypad immobiliser which i think is connected to this wire!?

The coil wire ( thick blue) and grey wire to lambda are connected together on my 16v loom, where should they be connected? Also the fuel pump white thick wire from the car loom has nowhere to go! Sure it was to fusebox before but if i give it a live it runs constant!

Without the relay then the fuel pump will not prime and injectors will not inject :) the wire goes under the ecu tray its around 2 inch's long

Wooh ive got it running!! The problem i had was the feed for pin 14 on the injection relay was live with ignition but then lost the live on crank. Gave it direct feed and away it went! Must be due to the immobiliser so ill run my own ignition live then its minted!! :D

How did you give it a direct feed out if interest? :S
I'm having a similar problem with my 8v.

Gave it a permanent live, i then heard the pump prime and the tps set itself, so left it with a permanent live, cranked it over ( the pump started up again on cranking) and it fired up!
