SOOO close to getting my vts now just waiting to sell my old car but !,
Today after picking the other half up saw the performance of the golf tdi so made made me re-think the hope saxo situation.
Don't know if the golf was gt tdi or anything but if flew but after getting home did some research and still the vts is quicker to 60mph then the 2.0 gt tdi golf (according to parkers).
What I'm asking the the experienced and veteran saxo owners what's quicker cos from the "parkers guid" there not alot of N/A that are quicker to 60 then the vts, even saw it's faster the a Audi 1.8 t to 60 !! Thanks guys

In terms of comfort, overall build quality and tuning potential comparing a saxo to them is really not fair. Personally I'd go for the golf rather than a saxo simply because it does a lot of things a saxo does but better.

The reason the vts is quick 0 to 60 is due to the fact it weight nothing.

The golf will weight alot more so got to take that in to account.

O yea it's all about power to weight ratio, hoping to strip mine out out so it will be even quicker.
would ask about what's good to strip out on this thread but I'm in wrong section so I will repost in the correct one :D.
Cheers guys.

The golf is a class above in terms of quality, reliability and mpg.

You could easily remap the golf for good bhp and torque, in real life driving i.e. not 0-60 the golf should beat the saxo due to the in gear acceleration.

Depending on what mk of golf there could be quite a bit of difference in purchasing price.

golf's a different level of refinement. Not even fair to compare them. But it'll be twice the price too, and you get what you pay for :) I'd take a golf tdi over a vts any day of the week given the choice.

Dont expect a mk4 golf to handle anywhere near a Saxo though. Even Golf owners say theyre the most bargey.

The way you said, it flew by, makes me think that you was already moving? if so why you look at 0-60 figures.

car a might be quicker 0-60, then car b- but 30-80 car be might be quicker.

in real day-day terms mid range torque is better then 0-60 pub talk crap.

Yea all true but 0-60 is an official stat that's what going on pal and for what it is the vts is pretty nippy :D

Now I have a GTI, I could never ever go back to a VTR
The difference in power may only be minimal but it makes a big difference in such a light car :)

20bhp is a fair bit, when you consider what people spend on getting that sort of bhp extra, but yeah i know what you meen.

strip the seats, and all other interior bits, lighter bucket seats, group N or preformance exhaust, lighter alloys, take all the sound deadaning out, remove carpet, door cards. anything you dont need, remove it and youll be light as fook :D
