Vtr inlet? What is that exactly, and how much,
And how much are cams?
Will they make a difference

cam will make a difference but only with a re-map , your prob best finding a vts engine , as time u spend money on breathing mods and cam then remap u would be better off just buyin the vts engine least thats 120bhp , you will only c about 30bhp gain with cams and breathin mods and thats after a re-map

Cheapest and most cost effective method would be to put a VTS engine in.

An Xsi head with a Ralley inlet.
Or you could buy mine, its quicker than a standard VTS, but its not for sale :)

Cheapest is to strip out the car!
Less weight - better acceleration!

How much and how easy are they to buy and fit in?

anywhere between 200-500ish depending on the condition ect. With the correct loom and tools and a little bit of know how then you can do it in a day

Also the downpipe is never mentioned, a good quality one with a decent bore size such as a Walkers, will make a difference. An exposed air filter on its own is useless IMO.

yeah vts lump is best way, but if you dont wanna spend that much get a de car, induction kit, could try getting it chipped but be careful if your going down that route

I found that changing spark plugs to a different brand can make a difference.
and I've put a new back box on before and noticed the improvement in acceleration.
Little things can add up. Nobody has mentioned polishing/porting the throttle body!

Of couse I did, NGK platinumb core or something like that, why did you laugh? I noticed the difference instantly.
Why do people port TB's if it makes no difference? Its obviously where the gas flow is most constricted where it makes most difference, thats why open air filters do nothing and if they are open into the engine bay there are worse because of the warm air.
Theres a tuner who modifies the standard exhaust manifold and removes the center web. It better than a 4:1 and all that carp

Its not the best way to go because its heavier, and to match it you have to uprate brakes and wheels and are the struts different in VTS's? [Im waiting for somebody to say that the brakes are the same etc etc ]

They are in a furio. Only difference in the suspension is it has rear drums.
Just 16v it. Whatever you spend on tuning a 1.4 to xxx bhp could have been done for half the price if you just dropped in a vts lump.

If you put a VTS engine in would you not also have to get a new exhaust and cat with the double lambdas? what would all that cost? and wheels
