There is a lot you can do to these heads though there a bit odd and a bit tricky. The inlet face is actually a bit on the big side so you have to be very careful on shaping. The exhaust side there is a lot of meat you have to take out. Be careful though as there water jacket is rather close. You also have to be careful on the shape as its all to easy to mess up. Have you has new valve seats fitted? Normally cutting the seats to deep is an easy way to loose flow. Your best bet to get a bunch of heads and just get your hands grubby. Be prepared for a new fails before you get one you will be happy with. Cutting up any mistakes is always a help as it will help show you where the jackets are. Well I say that but I have had a few where they appeared to have shifted slightly in the casting just to confuse matters. If your racing I would probably recommend in paying the money and getting a race head from GMC.
