should a alternator get hot just put another 1 on my car 1,6 vtr. it was out a vts or 106 gti put my multimeter on battery and it reads 14.6 is this right.:y:

sounds about right, they do get hot but not majorly majorly hot

no but I did with the old alternator I had. then the battery boiled dry the alternator was very hot and so was the battery.

you possibly have a bad earth thats why its getting hot?
