Hi, my 1.1 engine has just over 125k on the clock so due for a change going to buy a 1.1 engine again but was thinking for insurance prices was wonderding if i could get a 1.1 engine keep the block as 1.1 and use a 1.3 106 rallye head or a 1.4 saxo or 106 head just give that extra bit of power. like cam, re map ecu, manifold, throttble bodies ect ect. i have some knowledge of cars so if i got bits wrong excuse me. thanks

That is a lot of ballache for a 1.1 engine and will end up costing a shit load of money for little power gain, even with Cams/remap/throttle boddies etc.

You could put a VTS engine in there (don't think its just a straight out and in job but could be wrong) but I am guessing you have a 1.1 due to insurance and being younger?

In all honesty, modifying a 1.1 for power is just pissing in the wind.
By the time you have spend $$$ getting any decent power out of it, you could have just sold it, bought a VTR/VTS and got insured on it.
Assuming you can't get a VTR/VTS due to insurance, enjoy the MPG of the 1.1 until you can afford to get something more powerfull mate :)

i guess your right tbh just seemed a good idea haha i will have to put a new 1.1 engine in soon anyway :) thanks for the help guys and still spend 60quid a week in the 1.1 but better then double in a 150bhp modifed vts ;) so al stick with it and yeah insurance is a fortune for anything more. and tbh alot of you prob wont agree for a 1.1 it is pretty nippy and beats most things at the litre range, its all stripped out which helps

1.6 vtr engine is a relatively easy conversion. id do that tbh, the engines look pretty much the same too, if you catch my drift....

To be honest mate, if its been serviced regularly (or irregularly) then it should go past 125k with ease. It's not the engine that is prone to failing on saxos, in fact very few actually do fail. Its everything around the engine that dies first.

Don't change the engine unless its fubared

mine got scrapped at 127k because i'd buggered the thermostat housing and the battery was flat, gearbox was shagged and it had a big bit of rust in the back arch. otherwise, it was sound ;)

vtr's on 132k and going fine, mileage aint everything ;)
