Hi

I've just bought a complete piper exhaust (from d/pipe back) from a 106 GTI. I've looked about on here but can't seem to find a straight answer to the following...

The bacbox hangers... Will they line up with the saxo ones? As far as i am aware they are longer, so the exhuast will hang down a bit, but will line up. I'm planning to fit it on Saturday. Going to pull the old exhaust off and line up the backbox, if it doesn't fit i'm hoping i can heat up the hangers and bend them to where they need to be.

Has anyone else used an exhaust from a 106. If so please advise.

Cheers Guys :y:

Hi,

As far as i am aware it is a very similar system to the saxo vts but i am not sure, best thing to do is post in problems/queries section as you have a much wider audience that could help. Have you tried the search button?:y:

Cheers for replies. Couldn't decide where was best to post so just posted here. I will bare that in mind to post in prob/queries area thanks. I did try searching but no one had a solid answer some said it fitted others said it didn't.

But anyway...

The exhaust did fit after some carful bodging including a blow torch. The main problem was it came with a bigger olive gasket connecting to the downpipe. I beat it for a while with a hammer and eventually it squeezed in.

The other problem was one hanger was in worng place. So i bent it and used 2 exhaust rubbers and a cable tie which has held it very securely.

So to sum up the piper exhaust does fit and looks wicked but did take some time and effort.
