just a question but will a 306 gti box fit a saxo engine or would you need the whole engine

no, differnet engine type, and the box is huge compared to a saxo one

yes it will fit its basically what most of the boost guys are going for BE conversion but iirc the 6 speed box is a pig as its that much longer, reduces turning circle to better off with a 5 speed one depending on what you want to use it for

its too big for the gti6 let alone the saxo shell. my steering lock is absolute poop too! it would be considerably worse in the narrower shell. do they fit to the tu block??????

People do use the be box on the tu engine, however it's not a bolt on affair.

its a crap mod. I had it on my 205 once and turning was stupid. I never went near a multistory carpark. Its bad on the 306, bad on a ZX too. Most be conversions tend to be the picasso box as it bolts straight on the tu block.

im surprised the bell housing bolt up. id seen the be convertions but always thought the box's were hybridised, so whats the main things involved?
engine mount
driveshafts
input shaft?
clutch being push as opposed to pull? then its a straight swap?

I think only the Picasso box lines up. The rest will need a custom bellhousing. The gti6 box is not as strong as the 5 speed models anyway.

tell me about it! ive had a few now. we fitted one to a 306 hdi estate to get it mot'd was rapid of the mark but screaming at 70mph.

any ideas as to when its a good idea to look at upgrading to a be from the ma power wise?

I think its only needed if you are running boost or race tyres. Theres a lot to be said for mechanical sympathy.

hmm i wont bother then, ive never had any issues with my ma's to be fair. im only looking for circa 200bhp from the tu5 turbo. but thats the limit for reliability with the gti6 box.....
