Quick question...

After I sort out my car (seats, harness, scratch and other odds and sods) I wanna look into fitting throttle bodies!

whats the best way to go about it?
I've looked at the jenvey kits and seen there nice but still cost a bit of ££££

Is it too hard to fit bike carbs or is it not really worth the gains in bhp?

I will be getting a set of cams and a remap for my vts but should I just get it all done at once? throttle bodies and all?

I know a question like this has probably been put up 1032988 times before but I'm a bit of an itb nood :y:

Search. Loads of threads.

Carbs are backwards step from fuel injection and can cause a lot of probes come mot time.

No point in remapping with cams if you plan to go bodies soon after, just get the standalone ecu and cams and bodies together

get it all done at the same time, save on mapping cost,

there are atpower bodies which woukld be the most direct fit bodies you can buy at 950 quid i think maybe abit more.

or you could get bike throttle bodies and get a sandy inlet made for them, will be just as good really, get some 708 ( cheapest cams for standard followers and pistons from kam racing)

dont know if you have a single plug loom if so you can get a predator ecu,

so 1000 quid throttle bodies
cams i think it about 275 to 300 quid
ecu is 500 quid but others are more that 500 quid for the predator ecu, i think he offers a mapping session free with the ecu.

if you get it mapped on a dyno, it will be about 80 to 100 quid an hour will be about 4 hours for the mapping.

but that the basic cost.... just an idea for you. :y:

Cheers bud! Basically everything i wanted to know, i think I'll get the bits over a few months then get it all chucked in all together so it makes it easier.

I think I'll definitely notice a difference with all that lot on it from my procomp and strait through system i have atm ha XD

cheers mate,
like i said its gonna be a case of get the bits together when i can over a bit of time.
got some other things i wanna sort on the car like a few body paint bits and bobs then i'll be strait in on the engine haha :y:

what sort of power are you running with your atpower tb's?
I've heard figures of around the 180bhp mark but is that a load of shit as i'd love to have that kinda power XD

To see 180bhp you would need forged pistons/ bigger cams e.g. ph4's etc so will be alot more money if you cant do it yourself as looking 500 for pistons not including rods then like 400 for cams and then would need headwork done so maybe just think about bodies and 708's/ph3's atm to give you around the 150-160bhp mark depending on other mods

unless you have £££ dont expect anywhere near that.

155-165 depending on rollers on a 708 type cam profile. However bodies will give much better midrange torque

even 160ish is still quite a lot in a little car! so i'd be happy with just that :y:

if i did go all out and forked out for forged pistons ect i think i'd head more down the route for boost but i dont wanna spend a redonkulous amount of money :n:

rolling roads are figures are only useful IF you constantly use the same rollers during tuning your car and even then, all you are measuring is the difference in before and after.

Figures are for pub talk.

if you are going to go cams and map and you want bodies then do it, it makes a huge difference to the car over standard and sounds awesome.

If you are concerned about cost probably best not bother as it isnt going to be cheap.

yeah i know its not gonna be a cheap thing to do.
i wouldnt be surprised if i hit over 2k in doing it all but im seriously thinking about keeping the car for a while, do it over some time & eventually start going up track days.

next year i do wanna get something RWD & drift ready so I cant learn how to drift but i also want a car i use as a daily/track.

I dunno why but I've always wanted some sideways action :P
Im gonna keep the saxo anyway so i can still make a track slag to eat anything that comes my way :D

sideways action is cool as fuck..... depends if you do want sideways, is there any reason to throw cash at the saxo?
