I know this might sound silly but now I have rebuilt my engine do I need to put some oil in it even though it’s not in the car yet, it will be a few months yet before it’s put in :y:

aslong as there is a coating of oil on all the bearing surfaces and bores cam lobes ect i would say it will be fine without oil, just mind put oil in it before you use it.

did you use assembly oil when building the engine mate if so then you should be ok . If not then give it a good dose of oil just to stop moisture getting into bearings and bearing surfaces.
also if its not going in the car for a couple of months try to keep it somewhere the temperature is constant to prevent condensation build up inside it.

Should be ok then. Keep it somewhere warm if possible.
