when i first turn my car over in the morning 6am it sounds fine, do less than a mile and idle and it has a tapping noise coming from the coilpack..........even if i leave it for like 30 mins and turn it over it still sounds the same but the following morning noise has gone and come back........just check the engine oil and was really low so topped it back up(not checked it in a while :wall:)
dad seems to think its the tappets.......how much am i looking at? cheapest solution at a garage? worst case senario?
only had the car 2 months :s
please help

yeh vts, i didnt even notice the noice my missus did.......ive filled the oil up with castrol gtx and ran it for a bit to circulate the oil and just check 2 hours later and the noise seems to be quieter.......think im gunna buy some of that oil additive to help......might get stuck when i put my foot down a bit, hopefully thatll work........if not how much you think itd be to sort out?

my sister starved her vts from oil, i drove it and they were loud as hell, stopped and checked oil and it was bone dry, filled it up with decent fully synthetic oil and cured it

Does your vts not have a oil level indicator on the screen when you turn your ignition on? I would do a full service and definatly a engine flush, i dont know why people service there cars sometimes without doing a flush as the shitty old oil thats left behind just ruins contaminates the new oil you put in. Touch wood you havnt fucked the tappets up mate!

tappets if i remember rite are about £150-£160 that long ago since i done them, garage should only take a couple hours to do it so what ever they charge an hour +vat

what do you mean rock bottom?
maxwellvibe
7th April 2011, 21:42
the gauge when i turn the car over is at the bottom of the gauge like the water one is but as i drive along the water one goes up to the middle point and stays there when i drive along.....the oil one never moves...............is that how it shud work?
kyle4256

oil one should move sounds like u might have a bad earth somewhere in that case?or the oil temp sensor is fooked
