Yo so i've got a 1.1 gearbox spare and my vtr one has blew up.
My clutch has also gone so i was just wondering will a 1.1 saxo gearbox fit straight in a vtr and would the clutch need to be a 1.6 clutch still?
Will i need to change the fly wheel or starter motor or anything?

cheers

My VTR has a 1.1 box in it but still has VTR clutch and flywheel

It will fit straight in you still use a vtr clutch on a vtr engine though.

Straight in you'll get better acceleration as well

It''ll go straight in, your have better acceleration, but revs crusing etc will be higher which in turn will produce slightly more fuel usage. top speed may drop abit aswell.. also.. if you give it to much the box will just eventually die.

Theres plenty of VTR/VTS boxes knocking about so if you can id just bung one of them in.

I just picked up a VTS box for 70quid, according to rev counter ive gained atleast 1k revs, i used to rev at around 4k-4.5k at 80mph with my old box seem to sit at 3k at 80now

the 1.1 box will last and be alot quicker on the initial pull but as said, they tend to die quite quick if you beast them

Edited for accuracy.

Mine lasted 2 and a bit years until I took the car off the road (and it was still working then). And it had plenty of hard use.

I currently have a 1.1 box and it seems fine but what warning signs will i get if its going to die?

Is a 1.1 or VTS box better in a VTR?
