Has any 1 had any experience with Newman pug1off ultimate road cams, as I thinkin of these instead of ph3 a it's sayin the ph3 will never idle properly on a standard ecu even aftr remap and req a stand alone? Is this true or jst tryin to get u to buy the pug1off cams?

Cheers
Jon

I have ph3, standard ecu, remapped, idles perfect...

as above, even un mapped they can get a very good idle, just have to mess bout with the timing a little

I think the Pug1off cams are so they idle fine without the need for a remap. So theyre more mild compared to the ph3 and tbh not worth bothering with.

All pug 1 off do is use a ph 3 cam and a ph2 cam.

But ph3 cams will work together, or no one would use it.

They come up with some rubbish sometimes, and they still lower rear beam wrong!!!

I had ph3 and it ilde fine will need a re map and cam timing sorted during mapping to get the max out of the cams.

I wouldn't do what pug1off say,

I got a good idle on 708 when i ran them in unmapped.

Pug1off are a company i would no longer personally deal with
They spout shit and on several occasions have been proved to not listen to customers (even being payed extra to check things they should anyway before running a motor and it had valve to piston contact on rollers and left a very expensive repair bill for them and paying a shitload more for mapping time for the lad and the engine (which ive now bought) goes through oil quite quickly so i need to top up once a week......

On subject
I had ph3s mapped amd timed at chipwizards
Idled fine was a little lumpy but youll never avoid that its not like cutting out ect and tbh people make cammed idle out to be worse than it is even on itbs with ph4s my idle is near perfect just a tad lumpy and 1050rpm due to my omex
Its a case of the cam force on the follower being greater so more resistance on the cam lobe rotating meaning more revs are needed tbh but people still want a low idle so it suffers a tad

Colin has an omex on his car with similar (iirc piper but do not hold me to this) and it idled mint

its.more to do with map and rpm imo

Pug1off do come up with some shit, told me my pistons need machining, as wonsser dnt machine them to the CR stated which I found out was not true!!!

As I spoke to wossner themself and they say if there a stated CR for the pistons then that what they are machine too.

And I made my point about toads engine at the time, pug1off where at fualt for that engine, and should of covered the bill.

Yea andy its a shitty thing as dave stated he payed extra to prevent that happening too which was it seems just money in there poket for doing no checks as it failed

Mind that thread on shed makes a very interesting read tbh with guys like boni who know the deal

Hmmm interesting.....would need them to provide, fit and map the ecu.

What ecu's do they use Alex??

NMS use omex ecu if you get it done though them, pug1off use emerald ecu. And take it to NMS to map.

omex is mint
i payed for mine fit and map 2k james

took it there on a trailer with no ecu and a standard loom drive ot out mapped and done (after watching it make 163bhp at the wheels in front of half the west mids :D )

Likey....thats the kind of figure i was expecting tbh.

Did they also have to do a little wiring as mine will need the wiriing altering abit for the bodies.

Not quite so true. The increased overlap that these cam profiles give leads to an increase of internal egr at low engine speeds. Thus leading to poor combustion and poor idle stability. And increase of engine speed is required to increase this stability.

the increased force on the follower (from a greater valve lift rate) have very little to do with idle stability. Think about how much resistance the engine has internally, and how much an increased valve lift rate adds to that.
