Seems Ive been railroaded into doing this now as the engine ive bought is from a 1.6 106 xsi so its a TU5J2 - higher compression pistons and a different cam to get it to 105 bhp. Will this be able to run using a single plug early silvertop ecu/loom/injection setup? Supposedly this engine has an aftermarket cam (see my other thread) but I'm not thinking it was just the extra compression/cam/xsi map that made the previous owner think it was cammed?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I cant find an engine number on the block

The 1600xsi engine aswel as the 1.3 and 1.6 rallye uses the same cam, which is a good cam considering it standard, that's one of the things that help make it a better power output. Compared to the standard vtr cam it is the equivalent to a aftermarket cam, as it's 270deg duration off the top of my head and just under 9mm of lift iirc, and if you look at a mild cam for vtr this is actually just as good.
As for plug and play, the loom and Ecu will be fine, it'll be a tiny bit lumpy on the idle, since it's like a mild cam. The inlet will be fine too. When I used vtr injectors and coil though on a s1 rallye head which is the same as the xsi, I found the injectors didn't sit as nice as I'd liked them too, so I sourced some rallye injectors had them ultrasonically cleaned and fitted them
also found the coil sat a bit odd and was quite going onto the plugs aswell either which was causing a very mild missfire (it was not faulty coil or wiring or plugs needing change as it was a brand new oe coil I had fitted with new plugs) but I converted to run leads and coil on the side of the head and the misfire went, so I put it down to the rail type coil not sitting right in the head.
So would possibly look into some xsi/rallye injectors and also converting to the leads and old block type coil.
Also a nice little extra you could consider would be the s1 rallye alloy inlet. That should give you a couple extra bhp and a bit better throttle response plus it sounds awesome on full throttle lol.
Have a browse through my old progress thread for some ideas on where to start mate as I fitted a s1 rallye head to my vtr and changed alot of the things above also fitted a s1 inlet....

Thanks mate thats a great bit of info there, i'm glad everything is in the right place and should be plug and play. What needs changing to keep the block type coil pack (which incidentally i'll need to put back on as I've had the end cam off to check what it was fitted) that sits on the side of the head? I'm hoping plug and play!
