Alright guys, i recently gave the car a service and somehow managed to lose two litres of silkolene pro s 5w40 oil :(

So there's about two in the car, was just wondering would it really matter if i just put other 5w40 engine oil in with it, top it up to the right level with two different brands but both the same grade of oil?

Surely two different 5w40's are better than any single semi synthetic?

Cheers.

should be fine dude.I had to mix synth and semi before, never noticed anything wrong.

I seem to remember reading something that if you mix oils, the better of the two will be drawn to the areas that most need it.

Never had a problem doing this either but I always mix the same stuff - Fully/semi synth and the same viscosity just a different brand

You mix semi with fully synth?

I'm not too bothered i just want to make sure it doesnt harm the engine, i just want to hear it idling again :P

I mix it like for like but you'll be fine mate. I'd swap it out though for any hard use, just for peace of mind.

Yeah think i'll just stick to putting some other 5w40 in then , wouldn't feel safe driving reasonably hard with a dodgy mixture, cheers.

any oil is better than no oil
