engine reving itself then starving itself

the engine sometimes revs and stick at a certain revs (normally 2000 dodgy when when braking and the car still waants to go ) but also when coming dwn through the gears normally in second the car cuts out sometimes this is pretty dodgy as the power steering cuts out .
i have had the car put on a diagnostic machine witch just showed up a senso r but have since had this changed . the accelerator cable isnt catching or stiking . any ides what this could be ?????

I had a similar problem before... i replied to this thread (http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37047) so have a look on there...

although my power steering never cut out :shock: that sounds dangerous...

sound very much like a problem my mrs had, the temperature sensor is fooked, its tellin ur engine that theres more cool air goin into ur engine than there actually is.It's a little green one near the front just to the right, get it sorted asap tho mate. Hers only cost £10 to get repaired. I dont know wot damage it will do if u leave it, but im guessin that it MAY affect ur ECU! Just guessin tho, could be wrong! Probably am wrong!
