i imagine your car is a 3 plug ecu and the large round plug behind the headlight

if so then same as mine

i bought two looms off this site saying that it was the one i needed when it arrives it wasnt the one i needed so i have two looms sat here from a mk1 engine
so i would say ask for pictures before you buy tahts what i have learned anyway

I run a Mk1 vts single plug engine & ECU in my Mk2 (originally a 3 plug 1.1)

I just spliced the Engine loom, the only real issue is at the loom connector plug, single plug engines have a smaller loom plug were as 3 plugs use the larger type. You just basically need to mate the wires up and put a large conector onto the Mk1 loom in simple terms

if you are really handy with wires then yes simple as that but you have a couple of same wires and no one on here could help me witha pin out to splice the looms myself and its alot easier to just buy a loom that fits

Yea your right there like, i wasnt aware that the crossover looms actually had the larger connector on with a single plug ecu, plus i did have all the wiring diagrams etc and we do it quite regulally at work.

would you say its easier to splice the wires or get a cross over?

these are the difference in the interior loom plug
you will have the one on the top i think
http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc448/carlsmith715/large_e30266bd1a753e8a0fadbca7529f72c8.jpg

and you can easily tell difference between single and 3 plug ecu

i wouldnt say its easy if you havnt done it before/dont no to much about wiring. think we charge in excess of £100 at work for looms.

when i was looking into splicing i had like 5 of each colour wire on the loom
but if you have the diagrams then you mite aswell go for it

No your loom is a 3 plug loom so wont connect to the single plug ecu

Edit: im guessing it will be for the wrong engine too.

Is it a 16v your putting in?

Theres some confusion somewere.

Right youve got a 3 plug car, if your getting a single plug engine/ecu/loom you need to use:

Engine
Ecu
Loom

However the single plug loom wont fit to the interior loom in your car (unless its a crossover as stated) There for you need a crossover loom or you need to splice the single plug loom

carlsmith715

oryt yeah you can do that but its the plug behind the headlight you will have problems with you can get two plugs a big one a small one the pic i put up before so you woud have to splice the looms or get one with the big interior plug and single plug ecu
