Hi I am looking to change my back box from standard to aftermarket. The reason is I bought this car witha standard pipe. The owner before me had a differnt back box and obviously has left the one on there now in the rain for serveral months its a bit worn. I am looking for a bit more grunt but not bothered about performance! I have found a sportex for £90 plus £8 postage which i think is 'ok'?. It says it will be a direct fit to my car which is a 1998 S reg VTR by the way. The dealer says it fits VTR/VTS (96-04) sportex Exhaust Back box oval. Its a single oval 4.5 inch x 3 inch.
The questions I am wondering and if you could please help by answering are.
1. Could I fit it myself?
2. Will the exhaust fit directly onto the orignal rubbers from the standard?
3. Could I use exhaust tape and a clamp to fit it onto the pipe?
4. Will it make a difference in noise levels?
5. Will it pass its MOT with this on?
6. Finally is it worth it?

Thanks for your input this will be the decider if i get it or not.

Yes you could do it yourself, some say sportex sometimes need cutting and welding though.
Yes directly onto your rubbers
Yes you should be able to clamp it on, the pipe on the backbox will be flared out and you slide it over your existing pipe on the car and then clamp it
Yes it will most probably be louder and sound sportier
Yes pass mot, might get advisory saying exhaust noisey (very stupid in my opinion)
Depends if you want it to sound sporty and your willing to pay 90 odd quid for it.
Thank me for this, took me ages ;)
