Recently my VTR has started to rev itself when it isnt moving anywhere, keeps revving up then down.. any idea what could help this, or what has to be done? As it is pretty annoying! Help! :)

it could be either ICV or coilpack, if you have mates with the same car and around same year then switch coilpacks and see if it changes if not then clean icv with carb cleaner or petrol.

Yes my 2001 vtr also does this occassionally!, also the revs dont fall away when changing gear, its very annoying. Do you think this also could be the Idle Control Valve? Any help very much appreciated. Thanks

mine does this every now and then and a quick tap of the throttle and it clears up so i think the ICV is sticking slightly

mine does it when ya stop at traffic lights an that, it will just rev up by itself

I think the sensors must go slightly out of sync with the management system as its trying to reset itself occassionally, however it must be a saxo normal issue as i heard many people say they've had something like this happen!. All part of the Saxperience i guess!! :-)

seddon89, yes the tip/sensor of the ICV goes into the intake behind the throttle butterfly, and this is what slowly gets dirty and gungy after many years use. So take the unit off (2 small allen screws) and clean the end then refit it and away you go, that should do it!.
