I fitted my 421 manifold the other day, and had to take the radiator out to fit new one in... So obviously I lost all of the fluid inside... And now I have fitted it all back together... And topped it up with water, but it gets really hot very very quickly! And I don't know what to do to stop this? Help please :(

You've airlocked the system by emptying the rad. You need to bleed it, have you got a haynes manual?

Can be a pain. I dont use the "header tank" method though as described in the haynes. I usually just undo all the bleed screws and then blow through the header tank pushing any out along with it. Keep blowing until a steady stream of water is emitted from the bleed screws then lock them off. Top up to full level in the rad header tank and then test - usually sorts it.

air lock.
do you heaters work in the car?
and can you here bubbling-water moving about when you first turn the car on.
theirs a little valve like an innertube valve at the back of the engine, drivers side. open that, then fill up the rad with water, flick the key let it run soon as water spurts out the valve put the cap back on.
theirs also two more bleed points, one on the thermostat hosuing is a little alan key bolt,
then theirs one on the rad itself i think. passenger side. your supposed to do them in order, but i never have.

Yeah I think this must be what it is, can hear the bubbling noise when it starts and takes a minute or 2 to heat right up!! Will try this tomorrow guys :) thanks a lot :)

Open the bonnet righthand side of the radiator at the top, you`ll see a hose, follow it back the right side of the engine and the hose joins onto the thermostat housing.
