I passed my test on Friday and am planning on going out for the first time on my own this afternoon (Mum has been away with the car until today). I am really excited but also a bit nervous. Where did you all go on your first time out after passing? Did it feel weird not having an instructor next to you? Any advise welcome!

Niceone.

Cant remember where I first drove to. Think it was some random drive with my mum.

I remember driving like an absolute div the first few days of driving, not fast or out of control but just not checking mirrors before pulling out and risky stuff like that. I didnt do it on purpose just wasnt into the routine of it.

Just keep aware and check your mirrors before you move :y:

I passed my test in the snow, So as soon as I passed, I went home and bought my insurance and went out to see my mates, A13, M25 then a bit of town driving.

Great fun, I've never found driving nervous or scary :)

I drove like a total twat. Picked up the GF then met a few mates then went blasting around. :n: don't do it, I look back now and think wow....I was just over 16 and was in a tonne of metal....could have all gone pear-shaped quite easily!

Just take your time mate.. Maybe even go out later on when the roads quieten down ? Just get the feel of the car and just kick around town and get comfortable and most of all enjoy it :y:

Just take it steady. My first drive was into Nottingham city centre... In heavy traffic.

Was a learning curve lol.

Its the best feeling when you actually use your car for a purpose to get somewhere you have to be at like work. Random drives dont count, but when you use your car for work or whatever it gives a good sense of independence.

Possibilly the best feeling in the world, Using your car for work for the first time and not having to ride your bike in.

i remember my first day on my own.
I woke up atlike 6am that day and it was a school day. Spent a good 40 minutes just driving around it was awesome. Even made a few friends get out of bed so they could see it, was quite funny.

I passed on the IoM at 16 and went straight to the back road from Castle town to ballacraine in the VTR and looking back on it I was going rather quick. O.o

All fun tho

You know I can't remember :S I think I went to the shops up the road lol, was nervous too, but that show goes, just remember to watch out for other drivers making stupid mistakes!! Like pulling out on you and shit, just keep your wits about you and enjoy :) I love driving it's the best thing I did, learn to drive :D

My first drive was to 6th form in the morning. Made all of my mates come in the car for a random drive, my poor 1.1 had no power with 5 people in it.

Took me about a week or so to build up my confidence, after that I was fine :)

+1, since i passed my test i haven't used my bike to get to work since even though i said to myself i wouldn't use my car to get to work lol.

My first drive was to work, to show off that i had passed  ha.

Just go easy mate, don't rush yaself and don't show off in front of your mates thinking now you have passed you can drive like lewis hamilton.

But the feeling of independence is amazing, not having to ask mates/parents for a lift and you can just pick up your keys and go. No better feeling in the world IMO!

My first drive after passing was driving my car home from the dealership i bought it at. Driving home from somewhere i didnt know at a busy time in the day was fun times. Couldnt drive it for two days after that though as i had to get it taxed.

I dropped my mum off in town, then had to drive to my nans and back to pick something up, that was the first time on my own. I pulled out of the lay-by and had a wtf moment, then just turned my stereo up lots lol. Yeah i was nervous but probably excited more.

The day i passed, got straight in the car and went and picked the ex gf and mates up from school. The silly muppet thought i was driving illegally without anyone in the car, it didnt cross her mind i'd actually passed! Haha, great times and such a good feeling!

i went straight up to my mates, was middle of winter pitch black, mate followed me up the road, his car was lowered on spax adjustable or similar, both in mk1 clios, i got pulled over because his lights were bouncing allover on the back of my car with it being lowered on a bump road.... and the police said he kept flashing me when they turned up behind him :Wall:

i wasnt nervous at all, but i had been driving for 7 years before i passed my test lol so i knew the roads and what to expect plus i have a motorbike and been riding that for 2 years before i got my car license.

Think first place i went when i passed my test was to work the next day after picking up my car in the morning lol

First stop... Halfords. For a set of P plates. Thats what i think you should do, at least let other road users know you're new and to cut you some slack.

i never got the 'oooo shit i'm driving on my own' feeling alot of my mates said i would get . i had serviced the car a week before pasing (mk2 fiesta) and when i finally managed to afford the road tax my first concer was why can't i take it off choke (manual choke) without having a dead spot :( turns out my brother being a dppy git had stepped on the airfilter box and broken a vacume connection that allowed the hot air fron the exhaust to warm up the carb or summat. was driving around with choke on a little bit for weeks did 90 miles to £20 (back when it were like 1.05 per ltr) glad i got it sorted :).

take a trip down to your nearest McD's and order a happy meal and McFlurry. Crank up your tunes and sit back and chow down and let the world know you have arrived

+1 on this.

Put on "Fat Joe - Lean back" to be extra cool or "Act a fool"

to get extra points.

the day i passed my test i came home sorted my insurance out the next day i took the car i had been fixing to the mot station to get its mot and then off to the post office for tax

was scared as fuck as didnt know if i had fixed everything on the car and i was used to driving a brand new corsa not a N reg 106 1.1 with no power steering nothing lol so was really weird

just take it really easy and dont try to show off until you are really confident about what the car can do
