I have a mk 2 saxo and am putting a race manifold on it but the heat shied will have to go. Does anyone know if its possibe to get an aluminium oil filter cover?

nah the one that protects my oil filter cover. at the moment my cover is plastic and the protecter is connected to manifold. however it wont fit on my new manifold so i need aluminum to protect the heat ptherwise its gonna have to be alot of heat wrap haha

i dont know what heat shield you are onabout mate. ive got a mk 2 vtr and there is nothing between my oil filter and the manifold.

hmm. is your oil filter locaated sort of to the left hand side of the manifold? a black one facing up wards on a slight angle?

yeah mate and the heat shield is connected to one of the bolts that connects the cat to the manifold

oh, lol
mine never had one when i bought it almost 2 years ago, so im guessing it wont make much difference.
obviously with cirtain types of performance manifold the pipes will be closer to the oil filter so id use plenty of heat wrap like you said.
last thing you want is it melting through and losing all your oil haha.

yeah that wouldnt be good haha dont even want the manifold but cant find a de-cat pipe anywhere unless its with a manifold so im getting everything haha

first off you cant get a de cat pipe inless you just fit the cast manifold and downpipe from the mk1.

You can get some heat shield that has a sticky back on it so you can stick it to the plastic to give some protection.

Personally i would just wrap the manifold lowers the engine bay temperature and cn look better if you make a nice job of wrapping it.
